Heavy rains pounded various parts of Himachal Pradesh, resulting in the closure of 115 roads to vehicular traffic. The Shimla meteorological office had earlier issued an orange alert, cautioning of heavy to very heavy rains, along with thunderstorms and lightning expected at isolated places until Friday.
More than 100 roads are closed to commuters due to rains, with 107 in Mandi, four in Chamba, three in Solan, and one in Kangra district affected. Additionally, approximately 212 transformers are disrupted across the state.
Meanwhile, officials have reported that cracks have appeared along a stretch of the Chandigarh-Manali four-lane road from Mandi to Pandoh, leading to sinking. Consequently, since Wednesday, authorities have restricted traffic to one-way only.
